a quick word...

Arrived back from a lovely holiday and immediately went down ill with a virus that had me off work for three days. Only started feeling ok today. So am not going to write much tonight. I came across a wonderful site for all us Londoners and those interested in forgotten things:

www.derelictlondon.com
- check out the pubs section, all very sad and nostalgia-inducing in a wasted 1980's kind of fashion.

Holidays...

I'm going to the Limoges for my holidays on Tuesday. I'm pleased to get away right now, I'm feeling pretty fed-up with work. It will also be Harry's first time out of the country and his first time on a airplane, he's dead excited about the prospect of flying. As am I. I still love flying, the thrill of take-off and landing is as great now as it was when I was Harry's age.

Perhaps part of the reason I still enjoy flying is because the take-off reminds me of certain illicit substances I used to enjoy at times in my 'wild' youth? Maybe.

I'm going to burn a few CDs. One Jazz, one soul, one classical and one rock 'n' roll. The jazz CD will be especially important, I strongly associate France with Jazz. So I'll make sure to include the great Dexter Gordon, who's time in Paris was imortalised in the brilliant film Round Midnight.

Here's a track by Dexter, just to get us all in the mood.

So, no internet for a week...just how will I manage? ;)

Dreaming...

|
A week of dreamcatching and so far I've caught at least one each night. I also a strange experience of precognition or perhaps just plain coincidence, depending on how you see things.

Here's my dream entry for March 30th 2006:
"I'm studying a map. Tracing rivers as they journey across the land. I realise the map is of New England (USA). The map becomes web-based...text appears when my finger rolls-over a location. I'm slightly critical of the use of multimedia on the map. Though I'm also loving exploring the map and wishing I could visit."
And guess what happened yesterday?: I visited a local art gallery which had new exhibition that featured...a computer with maps overlaying aerial photos and sketches...the maps had 'hotspots' that opened new windows when clicked. Each new window took me to a new map or photo or sketch...

Precogniton or coincidence?
