Return to Richmond

|
Over a year ago I posted a piece about the great lost single by Pinpoint called Richmond. In the post I mentioned the track had been covered by German punksters Die Toten Hosen.

Well last week I received an email from Heiko who very kindly sent me an MP3 of the cover.

So, here, for you aural delight is:
It's a rockin' little number, hope you all enjoy it!

Play one for me Bob!

|
I'm hugely enjoying Bob Dylan's 'Theme Time' show on Radio 6. Each week he picks a new theme and plays an hour of excellent music.

His chat between songs is, as you would expect, extremely knowledgeable.

He's also a surprisingly funny chap, acting as a kind of agony uncle to listeners emailing in problems...100% goodness, check it out!

Hi Death!

|
Anita Roddick's death at the of 64 shocked me.  There she was, rich, talented, dynamic, compassionate, dead. She was just over 20 years older than me and this is what shocked.

20 years, I could be dead in 20 years.

Not much time left to make up for all the crap I've been wallowing in, especially over the last 12 months.

The Buddhists are very fond of recommending the regular contemplation of one's death.  Maybe this is something I need to do, to help me strip away the trivial, the time-wasting.  It may also be a way to open one's heart, open to...

Word up - Part 1

|

I'm learning some new words. I wait until one crops up in a book or article and then nab it, define it and work it.

This week it's the turn of Effulgent and Lissom.

And here they are, strung out together in my very own sentence:

"She was effulgent, moving with the lissom grace of a young cat"

By the time I'm finished I'll have godamned novel and I can leave my tiresome job.
