My Old Drunk Friend

This must be a common experience for owners of MP3 players. You have the thing on random shuffle and somehow, just somehow, not always...but every now and again...the damn thing knows exactly what to play!

This afternoon, I'm happily cooking a lush pasta sauce and every track it plays to me is 100% perfect, not two or three songs in a row but a golden dozen, all beautiful and perfect.

Now, I can't remember exactly which tracks they were but the artists included the following:

• Otis Redding
• The Scars
• Vic Goddard
• Swell Maps
• ABC
• Jackie Wilson
• Luscious Jackson
• Freakwater

And hearing Freakwater especially, is always always a special joy (c'mon gals, get the hell over hear soon!)
